Heritage in the UK
Our client, specialist heritage architects Loop Systems and their parent company MCAU Architects, wanted a film to both showcase some of their incredible work in this field but also to set the scene for a discussion on the challenges communities face in saving their historic buildings. The film, which was shown at UK-REIFF earlier this year, involved us filming in lots of different locations around the UK including the stunning Morecambe Winter Gardens, the breath-taking Ashton Old Baths as well as the dilapidated but no less beautiful Mechanic’s Institute in Swindon. We devised a narrative structure which saw the architect, Stephen McCusker, visiting, exploring and interviewing specialists on his journey of discovery. A nice visual metaphor was employed using his drawings as a means of placing him literally inside the subject.
